Pharmacy Residency

Messages From Our Pharmacy Residency Leaders

Robert Stackhouse, RPh As the Residency Program Director, I rely on more than 30 years of pharmacy practice in a variety of settings, 28 involved with pharmacy student and resident education, to coordinate an experience that leads to the resident’s optimal and comprehensive professional development.

After completing the 12-month PGY-1 residency at the YRMC you will be a proficient independent practitioner capable of providing extensive pharmacotherapy knowledge to a multitude of acute care providers and diverse patient populations.

The goal of the residency program is to build on the Doctor of Pharmacy education to develop clinical pharmacists proficient in participating as a member of the healthcare team, and who are eligible for both board certification and PGY-2 pharmacy residency training.

The YRMC provides a setting for the program that is large enough to offer a variety of quality experiences, yet small enough to allow as much individual attention that the resident requires. The residency is accredited by ASHP and is continuously evaluated for improvement to ensure graduates receive the best available training. The dedicated group of preceptors providing training for the PGY-1 residency are actively involved with direct patient care throughout the organization, contributing diverse backgrounds, numerous years of experience, and extensive clinical knowledge. All residency preceptors meet the qualifications defined by the ASHP.

With any questions regarding the PGY-1 residency at the YRMC, please feel free to contact me.
