Visiting a Hospital Patient

Out of consideration for our patients and their visitors, there are some guidelines we ask visitors to observe when visiting a patient at YRMC.

  • If you are ill, please do not visit a patient in the hospital. Visitors will be temperature and symptom screened and will be given a procedural mask to wear while inside the hospital. Visitors that fail their screening will not be allowed to enter.

  • Please sanitize your hands before and after your visit.

  • Let the patient know when to expect you and make your visit as brief as possible.

  • Visitors may be asked to step outside the room to ensure privacy during patient care.

  • Observe the patient’s diet plan. Food may only be brought in with the permission of the care team. There are no exceptions.

  • Respect a patient’s desire for privacy regarding his or her condition.

  • Be supportive of the patient and understanding of his or her fears and concerns.

  • Do not leave children unattended anywhere.

  • Do not use the patient’s bathroom. Public bathrooms are located throughout the hospital.

  • Visitors must wear appropriate clothing including shirts and shoes.

  • Strong fragrances are known to cause allergic reactions, migraine headaches, and even asthma attacks in some people. Hospital patients can be especially sensitive. Please be considerate when visiting a patient at YRMC. Wearing powerful fragrance is not good medicine.

  • Flowers, plants and non-latex (Mylar) balloons are permitted in patient rooms in limited quantities. No flowers, plants or balloons are allowed in the nursery. Family members may be asked to take overly fragrant flowers home as they may trigger allergic reactions in some patients.

  • Guest parking is available on the south side in front of the main entrance to the hospital. Complimentary shuttle service is available.

  • All patient rooms have telephones (except ICU/CCU at YRMC West and the MCU at YRMC East). Friends and family can phone patients directly by calling a seven-digit number for each room or by calling the hospital switchboard at (928) 445-2700 and asking to be transferred to the patient’s room extension (the room number). To reach ICU/CCU patients at YRMC West or MCU patients at YRMC East, please call the Nurses Station and ask to speak to the patient.

  • Because we want to provide the best service possible for our patients and visitors, Yavapai Regional Medical Center is pleased to provide free wireless Internet access. This service is available throughout YRMC West and YRMC East.

  • Assistance dogs are allowed in patient rooms and can accompany a patient to non-restricted areas.
