YRMC recognizes the value of visitor and family support to the healing process and is committed to provide a respectful and safe environment for all patients, visitors and staff.
NOTE: There may be instances where exceptions to these general policies may be appropriate. The Nursing Supervisor, Department Manager, or designee may determine whether deviations from these policies are acceptable.
Open family and guest visiting is allowed and encouraged. Each department will develop guidelines for visitors that encourage family and guest participation, while maintaining the health and healing of the patient as a priority.
After 8 p.m. at YRMC East in Prescott Valley and 8:30 p.m. at YRMC West in Prescott, all visitors will enter the hospital through the Emergency Department and remain in designated visiting areas.
Minors are welcome when accompanied by a responsible adult.
If the patient is a new mom in the Family Birthing Center, visiting children must be a brother or sister to the baby or at least 12 years old.

What should I bring with me?
Bring a list of current medications, your medical history, insurance cards, phone numbers to next of kin, as well as, Advance Directives, Living Wills, or Power of Attorney.
What can I bring with me?
Slippers, robe, books, magazines.
What should I not bring?
Please do not bring electronic devices such as hair dryers and curling irons.
How are my belongings secured?
The hospital has a safe for small valuables. All other items are the responsibility of the patient.
Can a child bring a teddy bear from home?
Yes! We can also provide a VCR and movies for the child's enjoyment during the stay.
Can a child wear his/her own pajamas?
Yes. However, if the child is to have an IV inserted, hospital pajamas are preferred.
Can a visitor stay overnight?
One (1) parent or caregiver of a sick child may stay with the child overnight. A reclining chair or cot may be provided for the parent’s comfort. No other visitors may stay in a patient’s room overnight unless necessitated by the patient’s condition or needs and approved by the Unit Nursing Director or designee.
Can a visitor bring "goodies" to a patient?
Please refrain from bringing food or treats to a patient as they may be on a special diet. As a patient, please check with your nurse before accepting any food brought in by family or friends. Please check with the Nursing Director for exceptions.
How may my family or friends reach me while I'm at the hospital?
A direct phone number to your bed will be available to them. Please ask your nurse for your personal phone number.
