WOUND CARE CENTER

People of all ages with wounds that refuse to properly heal, or other types of wounds, find quality care and specialized treatment at the YRMC Advanced Wound Care Center. The wound center’s mission is to improve the lives of our patients by quickly and completely healing their wounds.

For most people, wounds heal naturally as the body works to heal itself. Yet for many, the healing process is delayed or complicated by such factors as age, weight, nutritional status and immune system problems. In these and other cases, the wounds can refuse to heal and become a medical problem that requires special treatment and care.

For problem wounds, your physician may refer you to the state-of-the-art YRMC Advanced Wound Care Center, which is located at the YRMC Del E. Webb Outpatient Center in Prescott Valley.

Areas of Specialization

The YRMC Advanced Wound Care Center specializes in caring for patients with a wide range of wounds and conditions that are not responding to standard treatments. These include:

A Different Kind of Treatment

YRMC’s team of wound care specialists features physicians, nurses, therapists and support personnel who use a variety of therapies to provide individualized, cost-effective wound care. The result is the best possible outcomes. The full range of services available through the YRMC Advanced Wound Care Center include:

Our first step when seeing a new patient is to determine why the patient’s own body is not healing the wound. This might be because of pressure, trauma, poor blood supply, swelling, infection or poor nutrition. We will coordinate all the necessary tests and provide care at our location, while keeping in close contact with referring physicians to ensure a consistent plan of care.

After a thorough assessment is completed, our wound care team develops an individualized plan for each patient that combines at-home wound care management, education and support services. We typically see patients once a week, though that may increase or decrease based on your individual needs.

As a wound approaches the final stages of healing, we will work with you and your physician to create a plan of care that prevents the wound from returning. Such a plan is designed to fit your personal lifestyle needs … and ensure your quality of life.
