ABOUT YRMC'S PHYSICAL REHABILITATION SERVICES DEPARTMENT

Yavapai Regional Medical Center’s Physical Rehabilitation Services Department is widely recognized for the quality and success of the physical, occupational and speech therapy programs it offers at both YRMC West in Prescott and the YRMC Del E. Webb Outpatient Center in Prescott Valley.

The Physical Rehabilitation Services Department provides a wide range of programs and services that enable our patients to reach their maximum level of function and independence - and enjoy the highest possible quality of life.

YRMC's physical rehab professionals take your health personally!

The rehabilitation staff features the skills of more than 30 employees, including a medical director, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech/language pathologists and support personnel.

All of the hospital’s therapists are licensed and have received specialty training, and all are committed to improving the health of the people they serve, regardless of how serious the condition might be.

Physical therapists use the latest rehabilitative and therapeutic exercise techniques in an individualized program of care to help patients of all ages improve or regain levels of mobility and decrease their levels of pain.

Occupational therapists assist YRMC patients with physical problems that interfere with the activities and tasks of daily living, to help them become more independent in self-care and regain functional use of an injured body part.

Speech/Language pathologists diagnose and treat communication disorders that may be the result of hearing loss, cleft palate, the aftermath of a stroke, or caused by a head injury or a laryngectomy.

Physical TherapyWithin these specialties, the YRMC rehab department provides services that range from sports medicine and an injured worker program to aquatic therapy, women’s health programs and neurological rehabilitation. A free Fall Sports Medicine Clinic is also offered to the area’s high school athletes.

TREATMENT

Upon physician referral, treatment begins with a comprehensive rehabilitation evaluation. Each patient is carefully assessed, and then a personalized treatment plan is formulated.

The overall goal is to achieve optimal performance for every person, while providing prompt, courteous, and compassionate care. There is also a strong emphasis on education. Recovery doesn't necessarily end when rehab sessions are completed, so therapists will work with patients and their families to teach them how to continue the healing process at home. Education may also prevent re-injury.
