The registered dieticians at Yavapai Regional Medical Center help our patients meet their nutritional goals by assessing and evaluating diet plans and explaining any necessary dietary changes. Under the supervision of Nutrition Services, hospital staff, patients and visitors enjoy balanced and nutritious meals. Patients benefit from meal plans that take into account their medical conditions and personal needs.
Nutrition Services recommends a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, with moderate use of sugar and salt and a minimum of five servings of vegetables and fruits each day. Eating right – especially eating a lot of fruit and vegetables – may help boost your body’s immune system and prevent heart disease, cancer and other illnesses.
YRMC offers the services of a highly trained and experienced diabetes educator to provide one-on-one counseling to diabetic patients and patients suffering from obesity. The educator discusses lifestyle with patients, offers diet guidelines that take into account individual habits and overall health, and provides patients with the tools that allow them to make changes in their lives and manage diabetes on their own. Dietitians also provide counseling for heart disease, weight management, kidney disease, liver disease, food allergies and eating disorders, and provide special diets for people of all ages. A doctor’s referral is required.
