From the very beginning, in the early 1940s, YRMC has consistently hired the best, most talented people available. HIRING THE BEST STAFF
At YRMC, employee recognition and retention are top priorities. We continually seek out and hire the most highly qualified employees, while working very hard to keep the quality employees already on staff. We do this by:- Offering employees at all levels a wide range of benefits and opportunities, because we realize that appreciation and education are two components to employee satisfaction.
- Providing TEAM (Transition, Esteem, Awareness and Mission) training to new employees, to give them an understanding of YRMC’s Mission, Vision and Values and to allow them to create an individual mission statement.
- Hosting an annual employee awards reception, sponsoring Employee of the Month and Employee of the Year honors, and recognizing each of our employees on his or her anniversary date.
- Holding monthly communication meetings, in which our CEO meets with randomly selected employees to receive input on how we might improve patient care and the hospital’s working environment.
- Providing tuition reimbursement, mentor programs, and interest-free computer loans so employees can take advantage of online educational opportunities.
- Hosting a Life Long Learning Fair to give YRMC nurses and other interested nurses a chance to learn about existing and new opportunities in education and certification. All this results in a nursing turnover rate at YRMC appreciably lower than the Arizona average.

YRMC... a Home Away From Home
A nurse from out of state, hoping to relocate to northern Arizona, set up interviews at YRMC and another larger hospital. Her husband also made the trip, and while his wife was being interviewed, the husband would sit in the hospital cafeterias, listening to what employees were saying about their jobs and each other. The difference between the two hospitals, said the nurse, was like night and day. At the other hospital, the majority of comments were negative and disheartening.
